Compared with common high gradient magnetic separator, the superconductivity magnetic separator has made great improvement in reducing electricity consumption, decreasing size and light and reducing working cycle, thus improving the working efficiency and the processing capacity. However, the relevant equipment fees and production fees are very high which limits its application and development. With the constant breakthroughs made in the superconductivity technology, especially the development of low-cost superconductivity materials, the superconductivity magnetic separator is hopeful to replace common high gradient magnetic separator and gets wider application in the ore dressing filed.

In recent years, we indeed made great progress in the research and manufacturing of magnetic separator equipment and made plenty of achievements in scientific research that play an important role in promoting the development of mining production. However, the existing machine types, models and specifications still cannot satisfy the production requirement. Since the nature of the rocks and the requirement for the product quality are different, the technology of magnetic separation is also different. According to different technological requirements, the magnetic separating machines with different working performances should be selected. However, in the domestic magnetic separation industry, magnetic separators with the same performances and identical structures are basically adopted regardless of the nature of the rocks and the differences of the separation requirements. This limits the improvement of separation indexes to some degree.

The development directions of the magnetic separator equipment are:

1. The magnetic system will be more reasonable and perfect.

2. The magnetic materials will develop from low level to high level.

3. The equipment will be large in size.

4. The product specifications will form serialization.

5. The control mode will develop toward program control, modular circuit and automatic monitoring.
